I bear no grudge over suspension - Senator Ahmed
Senator Ahmed Mohammed who was suspended for one year by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State for alleged anti-party activities yesterday says he bears no grudge over his suspension.
The senator, who represented Kwara North senatorial district from 2003 to 2011, was suspended alongside seven other party chieftains from Baruteen local government.
State chairman of the APC, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani, has however said the members may be expelled.
Though the party did not specifically state the offences committed by the suspended members, many say it may not be unconnected with the supremacy battle between the senator and Rep. Zakari Mohammed representing Baruten/Kaiama federal constituency.
It was learnt that a panel set up by the party recommended the suspension of the affected chieftains.
Others are outgoing member of the state House of Assembly for Okuta/Yashikira, Ibrahim Adamu Sabi and Baruten council chairman, Mohammed Omar Bio, who were handed one year and six months suspension respectively.
Also suspended were the council vice chairman, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Lafia Ibrahim; G20 coordinator of the council, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Gunu and Alhaji Samari Abdullahi.
While the council's vice chairman was suspended for six months, the other two were handed one year suspension. The suspension took immediate effect.
However, the senator in a chat with Daily Trust yesterday said he abides by the decision of the party as a loyal party man while declining further comment.
Asked to react to a report that they might be expelled, he said, "That would open a new chapter but for now, I abide by the decision of the party. I am a loyal party man and I'll continue to be. So, there is no comment for now."
