Nigeria must remain hopeful about Chibok girls - Saraki
As Nigerians and the international community mark one year that over 200 schoolgirls were abducted from Chibok in Borno State, former governor of Kwara State and senator representing the central senatorial district, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has harped on the need to remain hopeful.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, Saraki empathized with parents and families of the missing girls, whom he noted have shown courage over the past one year.
He said the country must not relax in its fight against terror, saying, "A year may have passed since they were taken, but our sympathy and solidarity with their families, remain as strong as ever; and so does our revulsion at the acts of terror committed".
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media and Advocacy, Saraki said, "I would like to take this opportunity to support the comments made by president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari. He is right to throw the full weight of the administration behind efforts to find the missing girls. But he is right too, not to have made naive claims about the ability of any government to find the girls.
We must remain hopeful of their return and be steadfast in our determination to find them, but not make the same mistakes of the previous administration by making certain promises".
