Farmers in the South-West AND North-Central states have set up an integrated farming system that involves all aspects of the agricultural value chain and designed to promote agri-business in Nigeria. The farmers are members of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in their respective states including Ekiti, Lagos, Kogi, Kwara, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo.

AFAN chairman in Osun State, who is also the Chairman of ELKO Integrated Agribusiness Limited, Otunba Emiola Ogunsanya, while speaking on the initiative said the idea was the outcome of series of consultations among members from the states.

Addressing famers drawn from the eight states at Emiola village, Ijeda Ijesa in Osun State, Otunba Emiola Ogunsanya said ELKO Integrated Agro Allied Industry Ltd will become a test case for a veritable agribusiness idea for Nigeria.

He added that commodities in each of the states have comparable and competitive advantages. He added that bankable feasibility study and business plans for the processing of each commodity have been commissioned.

Ogunsanya assured the farmers that commodities delivered to the processing plant will be paid for at the on-going prices in the market.
