Ahmed reassures on healthcare
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has said that his administration would leave no stone unturned in taking primary healthcare services to the doorsteps of every Kwaran.
Governor Ahmed disclosed this on Wednesday during the commissioning of Tsaragi Cottage Hospital held at Emir of Tsaragi's palace in Edu Local Government Area of the state.
The commissioning exercise which was part of the activities to mark the Fifth anniversary of HYGERIA Community Health Insurance Scheme in the state was also organized to mark the launching of HYGEIA Community Health Insurance Scheme in Tsaragi community.
The governor, who wras represented on the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, said that the introduction of Community Health Service by the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Bukola Saraki, five years ago, was a clear demonstration of government's determination to bring healthcare delivery close to people.
Ahmed said the scheme was jointly funded by Kwara State Government, PharmAccess Foundation, HYGEIA Community Healthcare and Dutch Health Insurance Fund.
According to him, the scheme was part of the government policy thrust of making healthcare delivery system affordable and accessible to every Kwaran especially the rural dwellers.
He explained that no hospital bill is required for anyone that enrolls with NSOO and the NSOO registration fee covers a whole year.
Ahmed advised Kwara to avail themselves with the golden opportunity of this almost free medical treatment by enrolling themselves with the scheme.
In her speech at the programme, the Managing Director (MD) of HYGEIA. Community Health Service, Dr. Peju Adenusi, disclosed that 40,000 have now registered, 14,000 people are currently using the scheme while 25,000 are due for renewal.
Dr. Adenusi said that there are significant and remarkable changes as far as healthcare service is concerned in all host communities of the scheme.
She advised Kwarans to come en-mass and enroll with the scheme in order to be part of the lucky ones who are now giving testimonies following their success stories as users of the scheme.
In his address, the Edu Local Government Area chairman, Mallam Abubakar Egiuntso Say'di, said the scheme was introduced five years ago in Shonga and extended to Lafiagi three years ago, adding that the scheme has given his people ample opportunity to have access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
In his address, the Etsu Tsaragi, (HRH) Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotwa thanked the state government for spreading healthcare services to his domain.
"We have no doubt that this programme will improve the health conditions of our people who hitherto have no access to quality healthcare can now receive quality and affordable healthcare services," the monarch said.
