2015: APC are propagandists - Yinka Aluko

Date: 2015-02-27

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Deputy Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaji Ahmed Yinka Aluko yesterday declared that the present All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government had not satisfied the expectations of the people.

Aluko who described the APC chieftains as propagandist maintained that the PDP would use the opportunity of non-performance of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led government to wrest power from the ruling party.

He stated this in Ilorin yesterday while interacting with members of the Correspondents' Chapel of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, stressing that he remained in PDP where, according to him, his interest and that of his supporters could be realized.

According to him, "Politics is all about how best you can represent the interest of your people. Incumbency or no incumbency, if you are not wanted by people, there is nothing you can do about it and in any society, we have yardstick for support.

"As far as I am concerned, I believe the present government has been unable to deliver what is expected by the people of the state and on that level, I am sure PDP as it is today consists of trusted men and women who have the interest of people at heart, those who have proved their mettle in various fields, I am sure the electorate know PDP is the only party that can serve their interest".

He also lamented that workers under the Kwara State Civil Service are poorly paid while infrastructural development has also collapsed under the current administration urging Kwarans to make use of the "golden opportunity" for positive change availed them by the PDP saying, "If elected, we shall do justice in the affairs of the state."

Aluko therefore promised that the Local Governments would be given financial autonomous to make them functional unlike the present situation when they are not autonomous adding that PDP government would improve on the salaries of civil servants as well as patronize indigenous contractors to further encourage wealth redistribution among the masses.
