The Vice-Chancellor said Mr Arikewuyo who is also a lecturer in the departent of Mass Communication, has contributed immensely to the national and international recognition the University has received including current rating of UNILORIN as the Number 1 University in Nigeria.

Professor Ambali was speaking at the Wedding Ceremony of Mr Arikewuyo and Dr Halima Arikewuyo held in Lagos at the weekend.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was the Chairman on the occasion further said "University of Ilorin today is the first University in Nigeria and I must confess that Abdulgaffar Arikewuyo is one of those pillars that have seen University of Ilorin to where we are today. He has two caps at the University of Ilorin; one representing the Department of Mass Communication and the other representing the University of Ilorin FM Radio. I can call him and as people call him the golden voice of UNILORIN FM."

Professor Ambali noted that "Abdulgaffar has been interviewing people both within and outside the country. Today is a new chapter in his own life and I pray and hope, he will write an interesting chapter in his own marriage book."

He added "the wife who is a Medical Graduate of the University is now going into the next chapter of writing a book on how to become a mother, wife and in-law and I also pray for you to be able to write a chapter that is worth reading years to come".

Meanwhile, Mr Abdulgaffar Arikewuyo has expressed his appreciation to the University Community led by the Vice – Chancellor, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali and his wife, Dr Taiwo Ambali.

In a short message posted on his BlackBerry Messenger shortly after the wedding ceremony, Arikewuyo also said "his family is indeed humbled by the love he and his wife have received from friends and family members who have come from far and near and also those who could not attend the wedding due to one thing or the other".

He "thanked the immediate past Vice – Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede, staff of UITH, ASCON Badadry, NUJ, NIMS, UNILORIN Students' Union, UNILORIN Students Representative Council and the entire families of Alege, Gambari, Odunewu, Odueyingbo and Arikewuyo".
