N10bn loan: Orisun Igbomina urges Kwarans to ignore opposition's propaganda
A socio-cultural group in Kwara South, Orisun Igbomina has advised the people of Kwara State to disregard the 'rantings' of the state chapter of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) over the N10 billion loan the state government obtained to finance some developmental projects.
The President of Orisun Igbomina, Chief Gbega Awoyale, gave the advice in a statement he made available to newsmen in Ilorin recenty.
Awoyale, who described ACN as a retrogressive party, wondered why any Kwaran desirous of the growth and development of the state would condemn the government for borrowing money to finance developmental projects.
He reminded the people of the state and ACN that, " the state government among other things needs money to put in place the satellite campuses of the state's University (KWASU) in Osi (Kwara South), and Baruten (Kwara North).
"Besides, the government followed the due processes in obtaining the loan. It is on record that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed sought the approval of the state House of Assembly and got it before obtaining the loan".
The President advised ACN members in the state to stop politicizing issues affecting the development of the state and government policies geared towards improving the living condition of the people.
He added, 'if the ACN members are truly interested in the well being of Kwarans, they should stop politicising issues geared towards attracting investments to the state.
"Rather, they should help the government in achieving its lofty developmental programmes through constructive criticisms."
The ACN had in a statement signed by its chairman in the state, Mr Kayode Olawepo, dismissed as dubious the decisions of the state government to borrow N10 billion from a bank.
