Kwara C/Senatorial district election: LAK Jimoh disowns lawyer

Date: 2014-12-03

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Kwara State, Alhaji LAK Jimoh, has dissociated himself from his lawyer, Barr Salman Jawondo, who allegedly withdrew his appeal at the Supreme Court without his consent.

In a petition to the Senate a copy of which was made available to our correspondent, LAK Jimoh alleged that his lawyer was intimidated by justices of the Supreme Court to withdraw the case filed over the Kwara Central Senatorial District election.

He said that he believed that his lawyer could have advised him on the matter, or at worst, withdrawn from the case.

In the petition against Justice Mahmud Mohammed JSC (as he then was), the petitioner stated that "the presiding Judge (PJ) strangely took the position of a "super counsel" to Dr. Bukola Saraki, argued to abort the hearing and forced my counsel, Salman Jawondo, to withdraw the case from court without my consent.
