Boardroom guru Jani Ibrahim's political moves
Having conquered the business world as an active player in the Oil and Gas and Aviation sectors, Engr. Jani AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim has now begun some romance of sorts with politics, as his name is fast becoming a recurring decimal in the Kwara political scene.
In fact, he is one of those eyeing Kwara State governorship seat and he is working hard to secure the gubernatorial ticket of his party. Unlike some other aspirants, he is coming into the race with a rich resume.
He attended the prestigious Kings College, Lagos, where he obtained the West African School Examination with Grade One in 1976. Upon completion of his Higher School Certificate ( HSC), he was awarded the British Petroleum (BP) Scholarship at the Greenwich University, London, to study Mechanical Engineering. His brilliance, again, shone as he graduated with a first-class Honours. An alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos and Harvard Business School, Boston Massachusetts respectively, he won the United Kingdom Institution of Mechanical Engineers prize for the best project.
He later worked with BP Oil Refinery Limited, Llandarcy, South Wales, UK and Rutson Diesels Limited, Newton-Le-Willows, Merseyside, UK from 1979-1980. He also worked with the BP Chemicals Limited, Belgrave House, Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1, United Kingdom.
He was Technical Sales & Services Engineer, AP Nigeria Plc., Lagos between 1983 and 1984; Senior Sales Engineer, Unipetrol Nigeria Plc, Lagos between 1984 and 1988 and later Lubricants Sales Manager between 1990 and 1994.
In 1992, he handled the design, fabrication and construction of the ultra-modern lubricating oil blending plant for LUBCON Limited in Ilorin, Kwara State, with annual capacity of 40 million litres.
He is an ex-president of Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Mine and Agriculture (KWACCIMA,) and the immediate past Chairman, Conference of Northern States Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is presently the Vice President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
