Presidency: APC leaders are political anarchists
The Presidency has said that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are political anarchists and charlatans blinded by an unbridled appetite for power.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs Doyin Okupe said this in a statement yesterday while reacting to the call by an APC leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office owing to the current security challenges.
He described as unfounded and lacking in historical precedence Tinubu's assertion at a political rally in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday that were Nigeria a civilised society, Jonathan should have resigned.
Okupe said calling for Jonathan's resignation due to insurgency was the height of "insensitive, indecorous and bad politics which ought to be roundly condemned by every patriotic Nigerian.
The presidential aide maintained that by the provisions of the Nigerian constitution, the only recognised means of changing a government is through the electoral process which comes every four years.
He said it was unfortunate that the APC, in its desperation for power and eagerness to make selfish political gains from insecurity, had shown a total lack of the spirit of nationalism and statesmanship in its public comments on the insurgency in the North-east.
