APC presidential aspirants to pay N27.5m in fees
National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has empowered the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to review the recently released timetable and guidelines for the primaries of the party.
The party in its guideline has pegged the fees for the expression of interest and nomination forms for presidential aspirants at N2.5m and N25m respectively. Fees for expression of interest and nomination forms was N500,000 and N5m respectively with no distinction between a fresh aspirant and incumbents who before the review were expected to pay N10m as nomination fees.
Senatorial aspirants, the guideline stipulates, would pay an expression of interest fee of N300,000 and a nomination fee of N3m while those aspiring for the House of Representatives seats will pay N200,000 for expression of interests and N2m for nomination forms, indicating that the N1m difference between an incumbent and a fresh aspirant has been slashed from N3m to N2m.
The document also indicates that aspirants for state Houses of Assembly would pay N50,000 for expression of interest forms and N500,000 for nomination forms with no difference between a fresh and an incumbent who previously paid N750,000 as nomination fees.
However, all female and physically challenged candidates who were earlier offered a 50 percent reduction of fees for all offices will now obtain forms free according to the document.
A source informed DailyTrust correspondent that the NWC has been equally empowered to review the guidelines in order to make the necessary adjustments if there is need and submit its reports for implementation.
