Kwara 2015: Kwara Group Backs Sheriff Shagaya for House of Representatives
A leading socio-political group in Kwara State, Kwara Restoration Agenda (KARA) has thrown its weight behind the aspiration of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sheriff Shagaya who is contesting for the House of Representatives seat in Ilorin West and Asa local government areas of the State,saying that Shagaya's political pedigree and sagacity stood him out in the race.
The group also disclosed that it has adopted Alhaji Shagaya as its candidate for the House of Representatives seat in the two local government area of the State if eventually win the PDP ticket for the seat, insisting that the choice of the Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the seat was a welcome development and good thing to happen to the people of the area.
In a Press Statement issued and signed by the KARA Director of Media and Publicity, Comrade Kehinde Ayanwale which a copy was made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the capital of the State, described Shagaya as a humble personality, gentleman, trusted and lover of the common masses of the State.
KARA spokespersons urged the PDP delegates from the two local government areas to ensure victory for Shagaya during the forthcoming party primary to pick the party candidate, calling for the total support of the people of the area for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the forthcoming general elections in the State.
They urged business man turned politician not to be debarred by the campaign of calumny against his personality by the mischievous people who are out to satisfy their political interest in the State,saying that the people of the State,particularly,the electorates of area were yearning for change and freedom through the next years general elections.
Ayanwale described the campaigns of calumny against the aspiration of Alhaji Shagaya in some quarters as irresponsible,immature,evil and anti-democratic and part of the political agenda of the present administration and elected and political office holders in the State to bamboozle the people to fraudulently sought for their votes during the forthcoming general elections and perpetuate themselves in power in the State.
"Investigation revealed to Kwara Restoration Agenda (KARA) that the present Representatives of the Ilorin West and Asa local government area of Kwara State in the lower chamber of the National Assembly has failed people of the two councils in all ramifications and people are now yearning for new blood and personalities in the politics of the area and Alhaji Sheriff Shagaya is ready to offer the good people of the area the needed selfless service and dividend of democracy when elected into the office and this become imperative for our socio-political group to adopt Shagaya as our candidate for the House of Representatives seat of the area".
