The crisis rocking Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over Ilorin-west executive committee took a different dimension yesterday, when an Ilorin High Court restrained the Yusuf Amuda Olugbon-led executive from parading itself as executive committee of the party in the area.

The court presided over by Justice Ibrahim Yusuf also ordered the PDP not to recognise the Olugbon-led faction as executive committee of the PDP.

The ruling followed a motion of ex parte filed by another factional chairman, Alhaji Toyin Olosasa and two others against the PDP and 40 other defendants. Other defendants in the case are PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, Secretary, Professor Olawale Oladapo and all the state executive members of the PDP, among others.

The state PDP chairman, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo, had on Wednesday, September 3, inaugurated the Olugbon-led executive despite a pending court matter instituted by Olosasa group.

The inauguration sparked protest in the other faction while a contempt proceeding was instituted against the chairman for allegedly flouting a court order stopping the inauguration.

Justice Yusuf adjourned the case till September 22 for the hearing of motion on notice.

Meanwhile, the judge will on Wednesday rule on the contempt charge filed against Oyedepo following application by his counsel, A O Abubakar, that the process of filing and serving of Form 49 was "defective and premature."
