Don't cover-up or panic on Ebola cases, KWSG warns
The Kwara State Government has warned people not to spread information that would cause panic among the residents as it revealed its determination to train Advocacy Groups in all the Local Government Areas on salient points of how to protect and take care of Ebola victims.
Professor Sunday Opabola, the Governor's Senior Special Assistant on Primary Health, who also doubles as the State Chairman of Ebola Committee, made the pronouncement during the inauguration of Offa Local Government Ebola Committee on Wednesday.
Opabola also stated that the Volunteers and Healthcare providers would also be trained on how to wear the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and be given incentives, calling on the Local Government to get ready Volunteers for the project.
He also stated that three Isolation Centers have been chosen in the state. These he added are: Sobi Specialist Hospital for Kwara Central Senatorial district; Omuaran General Hospital, for Kwara South and Okuta General Hospital for Kwara North.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Offa Local Government Area and Chairman of the Local Ebola Committee, Prince Abdulwaheed Olanipekun (FCA) expressed the readiness of the Committee to key into the State's Committee initiatives and urged that the Local Government be adequately funded for effectiveness of its programmes.
Olanipekun had in his welcome address expressed the determination of his Council to be proactive in all measures to prevent any incidence of Ebola outbreak in Offa, stressing that the reported case of the women who fled from Isolated center to Offa was adequately checkmated before she immediately returned to her quarantined center in Lagos.
Opabola had also commended the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Muideen Akorede for his role in persuading the women to return immediately.
