FG Declares Mon & Tue Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr

The Nigerian government has declared Monday 28 and Tuesday July 29, 2014, public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, the Islamic ceremony which marks the end of the fasting period (Ramadan).

The Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro made the announcement in Abuja.

Mr. Moro says love, peace and justice are the spiritual benefits of the Ramadan fasting.

He enjoined all the Muslim faithful and Nigerians to extend the benefits to their daily lives.

In a statement, the minister urged Nigerians to “seize the opportunity of the holiday to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building.”

He wished all Nigerians a most rewarding and peaceful celebration.

Muslims began the 29 days fasting season on June 28, 2014.
