Kwara signs MoU on sports summit

The Kwara State ministry of sports and youth development yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Willbond Consulting Limited in Ilorin to organise the first Kwara Sports Summit slated for September.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Prince Saheed Popoola explained that the summit was aimed at opening sports management in the state to private investment.

Popoola noted that there are a lot of talents in the country and stressed the need to create a platform to harness the talents spread across the nooks and crannies of the state.

The commissioner reiterated Governor Abdufatah Ahmed's commitment to sports development and called on the people of the state to throw their weight behind the summit.

Also speaking, the Executive Director, Operations of Willbond, Mr. Gboyega Ogunosun said the summit would open investment door to the state.

Ogunosun noted that the summit would create a template for other states to follow, adding that parts of the term of reference of the summit were to source for funds that athletes could access to activate their potentials and put facilities in place for use to develop them.

He noted that Kwara will be number one in the sports industry in the country at the end of the summit.
