Roads in Edu, Patigi death traps - Kwara Assembly

Date: 2014-07-10

The Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday decried the deplorable state of roads in Edu and Patigi Local Government areas of the state.

It stated that the roads are gradually becoming impassable, due to numerous potholes and exposing road users to avoidable dangers.

It therefore called on the government to patch the potholes along Tsaragi-Patigi Road pending the rehabilitation of the road by the Federal Government.

This is part of the resolution reached by the House following a motion of matter of general public importance raised by a member representing Edu Constituency, Mr. Audu Liman, on the deplorable condition of the roads.

The Deputy Speaker, Prof. Mohammed Yisa, who presided over the session, while reading the resolution of the House, commended the state government for its zero tolerance for potholes on roads.

He urged it to extend the gesture to other parts of the state.

The House also asked the state government to repair the Tsaragi - Shonga Road in view of its socio-economic importance to the state.

The House also directed two of its members to sponsor motions on proliferation of illegal motor garages in Ilorin metropolis and the erection of unapproved bumps on roads across the state.
