Press Release: Be Wary Of Sycophants In Kwara PDP, APC Warns President Jonathan.

Date: 2014-06-26

The Kwara State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed a statement released by the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party where PDP assumed Senator Bukola Saraki, through his congratulatory message to the governor-elect of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, insulted President Goodluck Jonathan as sycophancy at its best.

The APC advised President Goodluck Jonathan to be wary of sycophants and political parasites that are abound in Kwara PDP.

In a statement issued in Ilorin by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party said, "Senator Bukola Saraki owes no one any apology over his remark that judging from the outcome of Ekiti election, what all politicians in Nigeria, irrespective of their political affiliation should take away is that, power resides in the people".

"It is rather unfortunate that a call to national duty and a charge to the President of the country and other leaders across board to be responsive to the wish of the people by Senator Bukola Saraki has now been referred to as an insult to the office of the President by the drowning Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) . This is nothing but sycophancy at its best.

"How on earth would a right thinking group of people, and PDP as a political party for that matter, would engaged in outright lies, distortion of facts and media propaganda in the name of showing Mr. President that they are loyal to him, of course they are not. This is deceit of highest order and it is unimaginable.

"Let it be put on record and we hereby state that Senator Bukola Saraki owes no one any apology over his remark that judging from the outcome of Ekiti election, what all politicians in Nigeria, irrespective of their political affiliation should take away is that, power resides in the people and so it is. Being an incumbent governor or even the President of a nation does not guarantee that you can not be voted out of office if you are not in tune with the yearnings and wishes of your people who voted you into power. No more, no less.

"It is on this premise that we further advise Mr. President and give this warning that he should not be deceived by the so called PDP leaders in Kwara state who are claiming to the President that they are on ground at home when in fact, they are totally disconnected with the masses back home. The question should be asked, when last and how many of the self acclaimed PDP leaders in the state had visited their people to interact or respond to their needs in the last one Month. None! Instead, Kwara PDP has metamorphosed into a media consultant for Mr. President and PDP who swims in propaganda tactics rather than to attend to the welfare of the people.

"It is a fact and it is within the common knowledge of the general public that Senator Bukola Saraki had stated the obvious and that fact remains. It will be disastrous and too late by the time the President realises that PDP in Kwara State are merely using their time and resources in frivolous allegations, claims and above all, their stakeholders are Abuja based politicians. The party at the state level seems to be deriving pleasure in deceiving the President and their party of their level of political values when in actual fact, they are political parasites who can not deliver a ward.

"Once again, it is our candid opinion that politicians from all side of divide should learnt a lesson from the Ekiti election particularly at the leadership level. This means that once you are not with your people in their time of needs and you fails to provide the basic needs of life and watch over their welfare, same people are ready to vote you out of office no matter your power and might of incumbency. Politics starts from the grassroot and the grassroot are the masses."

APC queried, "Can any of the PDP leaders claim he or she has attended to an individual, family or group of people close to their neighbourhood? Were they around when their neighbours need a token to eat or pay hospital bills? Were they around when some parents need money to pay school fees or buy books for their wards? That is Senator Saraki's message to all of us. It is a wake up call, a clarion call for that matter to all of us in position of leadership. This is the reality that Kwara PDP fails, neglects and or refused to embrace. So unfortunate that with the level of academic qualifications PDP officials supposedly possess and write up they are use to, they have a shallow reasoning of mind.

"Mr. President, be wary of these sycophants and ?political parasite that are abound in Kwara PDP who are hungry and who would make any sweet words or go to any length and pretend to you that all is well when in fact, they are fighting day and night among themselves on leadership tussle and whenever they receive any largesse from Abuja, it is one killing or the other or disturbance of peace in our communities.

"He who knows not and he knows that he knows not, thinking that he knows when he knows not should not be taken serious. Mr. President, your party leaders in Kwara state are a bunch of deceit. Watch out for them.", the statement read.
