House confirms Muhammad as Grand Kadi for Kwara
The Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the appointment of Justice Salihu Olohuntoyin Muhammad as the substantive Grand Kadi of the state.
This followed the screening of Justice Muhammad as requested by the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The Governor had on Tuesday sent a letter to the House seeking the confirmation of the new Grand Kadi following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council which found him worthy of occupying the position.
After answering questions from members, the Deputy Speaker Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa explained that the State Government had found a worthy jurist for the post of Grand Kadi for the State.
Born of 10th of July, 1951, Justice Muhammad is the 5th Grand Kadi of the state.
He joined the legal profession as the Senior Registrar at the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin in 1983 and became Hon. Kadi in May 1999.
