Kidnapped NURTW official regains freedom
Mallam Salman Rafiu of Okelele, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, who was declared missing last Wednesday has been found.
Rafiu is Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Shao Garage branch, Ilorin. Daily Trust gathered that the victim was declared missing by his family last week.
Rafiu, who reported to the garage on the fateful day was said to have told his colleagues that he was going to withdraw money at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) point but he did not return.
Narrating his ordeal to newsmen, the victim said he went to the bank to withdraw money and that when he got there, he met five other customers on a queue.
"Some others came later and the man next to me on the queue asked if the ATM is dispensing and I said yes, that was all I could remember as the next thing I knew, I was in a dirty room. I spent three days in the room with a N30 loaf of bread and a sachet of pure water. I was asked to kneel down in front of a place that looked like a shrine," he said.
Rafiu added that his abductors later dropped him inside a gutter at Eyenkorin around 10: 00 pm on Saturday where some passers-by rescued him.
