Journalists tasked on developmental journalism
The General Manager, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Ilorin, Alhaji Mikail Banji Sarumoh, has stressed the need for journalists to concentrate more on developmental journalism for the improvement of the country.
Sarumoh stated this while addressing journalists at the inauguration of the station's re-packaged programme, "Morning Safari" at Budo Efo, Ilorin, over the weekend.
He noted that the breakfast programme has been re-designed and re-packaged in such a way that it would have more impact on their hosting community.
Sarumoh said further that the programme has been done in such a way that it would add more value to the society where Kwarans would be best informed, enlightened and be better educated especially on government policies and activities.
The GM, who informed that the programme would cover the state government's activities in the three Senatorial Districts of the state, noted that it was done to address very important issues and put an end to misrepresentation in governance.
"This is not the first time the programme will be on air but television is meaningless without imparting on people's lives. Therefore, we have decided to re-package the programme's contents".
"The breakfast programme has been re-designed to further improve the system and the society. 80 percent of the programme contents will be from Kwara while the remaining 20 percent will be from outside the state.
"It will give room for people to task government on what they should do for them. People will ask questions on governance while government representatives will be able to reel out their activities, policies, challenges and achievements in office. More importantly, it will discourage misrepresentation in governance", he said.
