Ahmed kicks against bloated staff in schools

Date: 2014-05-06

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has frowned on having a bloated staff strength in schools.

The governor, who spoke on Monday in Ilorin while addressing journalists, noted that having such would inhibit execution of capital project.

According to him, such an excess would put a lot of financial pressure on any school management.

He also noted that the state government was repositioning the colleges of education in the state to meet their primary objectives.

“Most of the schools have more of non-teaching staff than teaching staff in teaching institutions. This is another problem because there is supposed to be a standard student-teacher ratio.

“Because the colleges of education are academic institutions, we should see more academic staff than non-academic staff but the reverse is the case.”
