The Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested a member of an inter-state robbery gang during a routine patrol along Oyo-Ogbomoso Road.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Indabawa,  while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Eleyeile, Ibadan, told journalists that Yemi Adeleke was arrested with bullet wounds in a bush after a gun battle with the police during one of their operations.

He said, “A distress call was received from the officer-in-charge of anti-robbery section of the Kwara State Police Command that a gang of four armed robbers had robbed the home of a man at about 11pm in Ilorin, the night guard of the man was shot and injured.

“A Toyota Highlander with Lagos number plate, KJA 24 AXN, laptops, handsets and some amount of money were taken away by the armed robbers. We also got the information that the armed robbers were heading towards Oyo State.”

Indabawa said that officers in charge of Special Anti-robbery Squard, Oyo/ Ogbomoso, Olusola Aremu, led two patrol teams to lay an ambush for the robbers, which led to the arrest of Adeleke.

“In the ensuing gun battle, the suspected armed robbers fell to the superior power of the police and fled into the bush with varying degree of bullet wounds while abandoning the vehicle. The SARS team went after them  and discovered Adeleke with bullet wounds where he was hiding.”
