Pedestrians escape death as truck veers-off road in Ilorin

For divine intervention, what could have resorted in a multiple deaths was averted yesterday at Oke-Andi junction, Sango road, Ilorin, when an empty truck around the area suddenly moved from where it was parked.

The volvo truck with registration number Kwara XD 576 FFA, wreaked  a tricycle parked in its front. The tricycle popularly called "Keke Marwa" was marked with registration Lagos QN 38 KSF.

It coincided with the visit of the Kwara State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr Abubakar Amuda Kannike, who was in the area on a road inspection.

The incident, which occurred at about 1pm, threw residents and passersby into panic.

A source told City Rove at the scene that the vehicle suddenly geared itself when some roadside mechanics were working on it.

He denied that the ill-fated incident occurred when the truck veered-off the road.
