Kwara speaker preaches peace
Traditional rulers in Kwara State have been urged to continue to encourage peaceful coexistence among their people to further sustain the harmony in the state.
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Razak Atunwa, gave the charge in Kaiama, at the weekend while paying homage to the Emir, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, Bagidi Kiyaru the IV, in his palace.
Honourable Atunwa, who attributed the peace pervading the state to the massive support of the traditional institution to the state government, explained that meaningful transformation could only be attained in an atmosphere of peace, love, and intercommunual relationship.
He praised other traditional rulers in the state for paving the way for peaceful coexistence in their domains and assured that the legislative arm of government under his leadership in the state would continue to provide platform for policies that would further enhance their well-being.
The speaker explained that he was in Kaiama to preside over the finals of the third Bagidi Kiyaru unity football tournament sponsored by the wife of the immediate past Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajia Mariam Bawa, to commemorate the emir's third anniversary on the throne.
Atunwa noted with delight that the Kaiama kingdom under his reign had witnessed peace and transformation.
In his remarks, the Emir of Kaiama praised the State House of Assembly under the leadership of Atunwa for ensuring cordiathe way for accelerated development of the State.
