The Kwara State Press Club Association, GDSS Okekere, Ilorin, Kwara State Chapter has honoured Abdul-Hameed Alli with the Pillar of Journalism in Kwara State Award at the 2013 Press Day celebration held recently.

Alli, the Publisher of Ilorin- based NIMMA Int'l and Kwara People magazines had also been given an honorary Ambassador of LEAH by the wife of Kwara State governor and Founder, LEAH Charity Foundation Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed two years ago.

Appreciating the press club for the honour, Alli recalled how he established similar club at Ansar-Ud- Deen High School, Falolu , Lagos State several years ago by contributing articles to Children/ Education pages of newspapers.

"Then, I used to encourage students to build their talents and careers using opportunities provided by being members of the press club. So, I appreciate the honour and I hope to render more services for the humanity," he added.

On their parts, the Ilorin West Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Zulu Oloje and his vice, Hajia Aminat Aromoke commended Alli for his contributions to the development of community journalism in the state, asking him to keep the flag flying.

The occasion was graced by many dignitaries, including Mrs. Biola Adimula, who is the Founder of Great Spelling Bee Competition in Kwara State; Mrs. Ahmed, Principal, GDSS Okekere Senior Section; Hajia Munia Nike, Principal, GDSS Okekere Junior Section; Mrs. Sanni Abiola, Vice Principal Special Duties and Alhaja S.T Ayuba, Vice Principal Academics, among others.
