I made many politicians - Baraje

Date: 2012-04-28

Former acting National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, has said that when he accepted national positions in the party, he intended to learn politics but he ended up as a teacher in politics, while also making many other politicians in the process.

Baraje said this during a visit to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State in Ilorin on Friday. He said there was the need for greater collaboration between the government and the people to move the nation forward.

He appealed to Nigerians to support government's laudable programmes for accelerated development.

Ahmed said Baraje assumed the leadership of the PDP at a crucial time in the history of the nation and the party. The governor said Baraje played a significant role in unifying the country and stabilising the PDP, especially when the late President Umaru Yar'Adua was receiving treatment abroad and after his death.

Ahmed stated that Baraje supported the PDP to "come out with a strong position that saved the situation and made us to remain a strong and united nation."
