Kwara to Distribute N100m Loans to 5,000 Artisans

Date: 2013-10-22

The Kwara Government on Monday in Ilorin said it had earmarked N100 million for distribution as loan to 5,000 artisans in the state.

The Kwara Commissioner for Information and Communication, Tunji Moronfoye, said that the gesture was meant to boost the potential beneficiaries' trading activities.

''In due course, the loan, which is a revolving one, will be extended to all artisans in the state,'' he said.

Moronfoye said further that the government was committed to improving the well-being of the people of the state.

He advised the first set of the scheme's beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money to improve their economic fortunes.

The commissioner said that the state government planned to put into full operation a vocational training centre in November.

''The centre will be an avenue to fully engage youths in the state on entrepreneurship skills' acquisition,'' he said.
