Late Waziri is a blessing to the nation - Ahmed...as NUJ sets to honour him
The Kwara State Governor,Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed has described the Waziri of Ilorin, late Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki as a blessing to the state and the entire nation.
The governor gave the description on Monday at a meeting with the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) Main Organising Committee of the commemorative colloquium for the late political icon in his office
Ahmed said" nothing is too much to honour Baba Oloye, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki.
Baba lived a very good life, he dedicated his entire life to the service to God and humanity which he demonstrated since his incursion in politics".
The governor who expressed happiness over the NUJ decision to honour the Senate Leader in the Second Republic posthumously said that "Baba was a blessing to Kwara State and the entire nation as he demonstrated various uncommon qualities.
He described the colloquium as a welcome development, adding that it would serve as a platform for people to begin to see" what Baba Saraki stood for"
The governor while assuring NUJ of his maximum support to make the event an annual event, mentioned that" There are qualities and values of Baba Saraki that are worthy of emulation by all".
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of the Main Organising Committee who doubles as the Vice President of the NUJ 'D' Zone, Mr Mattias Omale informed that "the union deemed it necessary to honour the late Saraki in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the nation's political development and service to humanity during his life time".
The chairman solicited for the cooperation, support and assistance of the governor so as to record a befitting posthumous honour to late Saraki.
Members of the committee on the visit to the governor were Mattias Omale, chairman, Gbemiga Bamidele, member/ secretary, Abdulahi Olesin, member, Abiodun Abdulkareem, Chairman Kwara Council of NUJ and a member of the committee, and Tunde Akanbi, member.
