Date: 2013-09-18

The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mrs Bashirat Mohammed, has called for peaceful co-existence among communities in the area.
Mohammed made the call at a stakeholder's forum organised by the PDP on Sunday in Omu-Aran.

She said that mutual relationship by the indigenes would assist the government to develop the communities.

Mohammed urged the community leaders to close ranks in their efforts to raise the standard of living of people in the communities.

According to Mohammed, no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of violence and rancour.

"The desired growth and development can only thrive where peace, love, concord and harmony exist, especially within the party hierarchy,'' she said.

She said that her administration had provided a template which the incoming council executive could build on for the betterment of the people.

"My administration has provided a good template for my successor in all ramifications to excel, ''she said.

Mohammed said the achievements recorded by the administration in improving the economy of the communities was made possible through the prayers and assistance of traditional rulers.

She said that the areas of achievements included youth empowerment and provision of infrastructure to boost the economy of the communities.
"This great feat cannot be recorded without the fatherly support and prayers of the council's traditional institution.

"Our royal fathers have stood by the administration these three years and I am grateful while I pray to God to be with each of them,'' Mohammed said.
She urged the council workers to remain steadfast and committed in all their endeavours, adding that their welfare remained a priority.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the state government had fixed Oct. 26 for the conduct of the local government election in the 16 councils across the state.
