Man Held for Stealing Employer's Money
A security guard, Rabiu Muhammed said to be of no fixed address has been dragged before an Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing his master's money.
The accused committed the crime on March 29, 2012 having been alleged to have rank search his master's room, and stole the sum of N200.000.
The mater, Pastor Olufemi Olla of No. 2, Akande Link, Baba-Ode, Coca-Cola Road, Ilorin, had reported the matter at 'A' Division Police Station, Ilorin, that the accused stole his money.
According to the complainant, he left home to pick his children from school while he left the accused, who was their guard at home.
He stated that, when his wife came back she discovered that the back door was opened and the room has been searched as a result of which she immediately call him with her GSM handset phone.
The complainant added that when he came back home, he discovered that the sum of N200,000 kept inside a bag has been stolen by the accused.
Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that during investigation, the money was found where the accoussed hide it under the air conditioner , while a weed suspected to be Indian Helm was also found in his possession.
The accussed was arraigned on a three-count charge of theft by servant, trespass and belonging to gang of thieves, contrary to Section 289, 352 and 306 of Penal code, law of the Federation of Nigeria.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Earnest Eniolorunda informed the court that investigation into the matter is yet to be completed. He objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand the accused at prison custody pending the out come of the investigation.
Magistrate S.O. Sambo agreed with the submission of the prosecutor, and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Medium Security Prison, Mandala, Ilorin. The courty adjourned the case for further mention.
