KWARA FIRST LADY RECIEVES WIVES OF TRANSITION IMPLEMENTATION CHAIRMEN IN HER OFFICE

On Thursday, 10th June 2021, the First Lady of Kwara State and the Founder Ajike People Support Centre, Her Excellency, Ambassador, Dr. Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq hosted the Forum of the Kwara State Wives of TIC Chairmen on a courtesy visit at the office of the First Lady Government House, Ilorin.

During the visit Ambassador Abdulrazaq congratulated the women on their spouses' recent appointment and as well commended them for what they've been doing to get the Local Government Areas in the State running smoothly.

She encouraged the Wives of the TIC Chairman to replicate some of the programmes she's doing at the State level through her office and her initiative, the Ajike People Support Center in the areas of Gender-based violence advocacy, Campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Women, Youth, and Children Empowerment.

The first lady who is also the 2nd vice president of softball and baseball in Nigeria urged the women to embrace grassroots sports as a way of keeping children occupied and stave them off social vices.

The First Lady also encouraged them to prioritize education in their various local government areas as they are closer to the grassroots and it will help checkmate the number of out of school children in the State and to get children engaged in doing meaningful things that will impact their lives positively and that of the society as a whole.

Professor Mamman Saba Jibril, the Secretary to the State Government who was also present at the meeting emphasized the need for the women to intensify the call to prioritize education in the rural communities, describing it as one of the keys to securing a better future for today's young ones who are the potential leaders of tomorrow.

Earlier the Wife of TIC Chairman, Ifelodun LGA, and the Chairperson of the forum, Mrs. Titilayo Ashonibare in her opening remarks appreciated the First Lady for graciously granting the meeting noting that it is a mark of understanding and approachability and as well as an unwavering commitment to the development of women folk in the State.

"We the wives of the TIC Chairmen of the 16 LGAs in the State appreciates the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for considering our husband's worthy of their appointments, though our husbands were appointed recently, we have, for long been connected to the people at the grassroots for decades"

"Mrs. Ashonibare during her remarks noted that when talking of the SDGs, which the First Lady of the State is keenly interested in, women and children are at the centre. These goals too are our area of focus. The care of children and welfare of the women, as well as youth empowerment for a better society, are our preoccupation as dutiful women".

"We, therefore, seek Her Excellency's support towards making our offices in the various councils functional", she said.

In his own remarks the Hon Commissioner for Local Government, Arch. Seifudeen assured the Wives of the TIC Chairman of his continuous support and that of the State Government in whatever way that will ensure they and their husbands succeed in office.

Dignitaries at the meeting included Hon Commissioner for Social Development, Mrs. Abosede Aremu, Commissioner for Tertiary, Barrister Senior Sulieman, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communication, Hajia Mopelola Abdulrahman, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, ED, Ajike People Support Centre, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru and a host of others.
