Defected members begging to come back - Kwara PDP

Date: 2014-01-22

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday said that former members who defected with the Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to the All Progressive Congress, APC, are planning to return.

A statement signed by Chairman of the PDP Publicity Committee, Mohammed Mariam Alhassan, said: “Information reaching us indicates that the topmost leadership of the dissidents have been begging and prostrating in Abuja to return to our fold despite their flamboyant exit as if they have the capacity to stay without the cover of the centre.

“While we refuse their desperate moves because in politics, the more we are in number, the merrier, we wish to categorically state that those who intend to join us now will not only be coming back as new members as they must also realise that a new leadership structure had been properly defined and anybody who is coming back now will have to join the queue or stay away.”

Al-Hassan, however, asked members who had stood firmly to remain steadfast.

But Prince Yemi Afolayan, one of the Senator Bukola Saraki’s supporters, denied the claim that they were planning to return to PDP.

In a statement made available to journalists, Afolayan said: “The claim that we are pleading to come back to the PDP can only exist in the infantile imagination of those behind the rumour”.
