Proponents of new APC denounced in Kwara.
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, comprising former Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mr Kayode Olawepo, and others have denounced some politicians in state led by one Reverend Bunmi Olusona, who have constituted themselves into another political fold called new APC.
In a statement signed on behalf of APC leader in the state by Hon. Michael Iyanda and made available toSaturday Independent on Friday, the party decried the activities of Rev Olusona and his co-travellers as anti-party and urged members of the public to disregard them.
The statement read thus: “At a well-attended meeting of loyal, concerned and disciplined members of Isin Local Government All Progressives Congress at Okunloye House, Ijara-Isin on 24 January 2014, it was unanimously resolved as below:
“That there is no new APC in Isin LG and we, therefore, totally dissociate ourselves from Olusona and his team of illegal executive and the anti-party activities of the said illegal new APC.”
“That we denounce any Isin LG APC members/politicians that are part of the leadership of the Olusona illegal team and/or participate in its meeting and that there is no time they are mandated to represent Isin LG in any form of negotiation for any conditional acceptance of the merger or any other clandestine negotiation in whatever form, as any such actions are in the pursuit of their personal interest and inordinate ambition.”
“That we welcome the merger with the conditions stipulated and accept the leadership of the party in Kwara State, we greet our leader, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and we are proud of his exemplary leadership traits.
“That the meeting noted the said politician’s negative roles in causing disaffection and division in the past, thus giving Isin LG an undeserved political image and thus resolved that the Isin LG APC will not allow him and his followers to derail the merger process in Isin Local Government.
“That the harmonisation process should commence immediately and if possible be completed before the registration exercise commences under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Isin Local Government, Alh. MorufThanni, with the cooperation of all, as may be required or directed.
“Present at the meeting were Mr. Kayode Olawepo, former state Chairman Kwara ACN, Hon. Michael Iyanda, a former contestant to the position of the chairman, Isin Local Government, Kwara State, Hon. Femi Onisola, a former chairmanship candidates of Isin Local Government of ACN and CPC, Mrs. Kudirat Sanni, a former Isin Local Government ACN women leader.
“Mr. Samuel Adewoye, a former Isin Local Government youth leader, Mr. Tayo Ajide, the former secretary of Kwara South ACN, Lagos branch, and representatives from Lagos, Mr. Segun Okunloye (host of the meeting), ward chairmen, ward women, youth and other ward leaders.”
