"We should talk about our issues once in a blue moon" - Gbemi Saraki
Former senator representing Kwara Central senatorial district at the national assembly and National Conference delegate, Senator Gbemisola Saraki Wednesday, said the ongoing event was a good sign that the country was making vital socio-economic advancement.
Saraki, who chatted with reporters at her Ajikobi ward in Ilorin West local government, where she showed up to tidy up her Peoples Democratic Party registration (for the record, her registration number is 860453) said, “the conference was not a waste of time as being said in some quarters.”
Why did she say that? These are her own words.
“Nigeria with over 150 million people and over 350 ethnic nationalities, there is need to come together once in a blue moon to discuss the issues of common interest that will add value to the socio-economic and political advancement of the nation.”
According to her, “there had been series of conferences in the past and had yielded positive results and the ongoing conference was expected to yield positive results.”
She also said that, “as a member of the delegate to the conference, I am hoping that the outcome would add value to the growth of Nigeria and will go a long way to improve the economic and political growth of Nigeria at the end of the day.
“It’s important, no matter how little the achievement, an achievement is an achievement. A hundred and fifty million people of so many ethnic languages, we have over 350 languages not dialects actual languages, to live together in harmony we need to talk constantly…”
But she earlier said we should talk once in a blue moon. Right?
She also spoke about the PDP’s current standing in her state in very glowing terms.
“The action of the PDP in Kwara state shows that the party is solidly on ground in view of the recent visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the state recently.”
She finally advised party members in the state to remain focused and turn up in their numbers to participate in the ongoing PDP registration exercise.
