Opinion - Saraki: Jonathan's Greatest Threat. By Abdulrahman Alade

The unfolding issues in the Nigerian political scene cannot be discussed to an interesting point without mentioning the growing crisis in the ruling party, People's Democratic Party, which has divided the party against itself, giving much room for speculations and opening for oppositions to excel in their penetration. No doubt, even though the battle within the party seem to be on the spread amongst various political icons, if properly and carefully assessed, it can simply be narrowed to a right between two giants i.e. president Goodluck and Senator Bukola Saraki representing Kwara central.

As a man who never wore shoes, Jonathan's dream of aso rock, no doubt was a sudden and unexpected event, which is noticeable in his weak policies and improper administration which is leaving the nation in the worst state ever; speedy growth in debt, lavish spending, corruption, desperacy among others have characterized the Jonathan led administration. Instead of ensuring equity, fairness and development in the nation, Jonathan's cluelessness has emphasized itself in a low way as he focuses on contesting in 2015 general election at all cost while national problems are peaking.

On the other hand, Bukola Saraki, the son of the great political titan, whose leadership career has risen in a meaningful way worthy of emulation over the years. Of course, many of the laudable achievements of the on going administration of President Goodluck such as Save Bagega among others were initiated and led by Senator Saraki; the former chairman of governors forum's grip on many political icons in Nigeria cannot be overlooked, as he defines his way up, tapping from his political bank of wisdom when when needed.

Since Saraki decided to contest for president in 2011, EFCC has continued to harrass him, a move which has been described to be a plot from his political enemies, of course Jonathan is one. However, with the division of PDP, with the new faction carrying more weight, president Goodluck's confusion is heightened, and all shows that senator Saraki is a great threat to the president on his ambition come 2015. The display of power by the president, by withdrawing senator Saraki's security aides which is a legal entitlement shows how threatened Goodluck is about the new faction, which Saraki is a main leader.

We can't keep watching and allow Jonathan make more mess out of this nation in 2015, the misuse of power, corruption and other illegal actions are widening the wound of this nation and we must stand by those who fight against this greedy move by Goodluck.
