First timers win Kwara Assembly speaker, deputy speaker seats

Abdurrazaq Babatunde Atunwa representing Owode Onire in Asa local government area of Kwara State and Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa from Patigi constituency in Patigy local government area were yesterday elected speaker and deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly unopposed.


Other principal officers elected include Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Asaholu from Oke -Ero constituency as the majority leader , Hon. Fatai Salman from Ilorin West was the deputy majority leader ,Hon Iliyasu Ibrahim from Oloru/ Ipaye was nominated as the Chief whip while Hon Sakirat Anako from oke- Ogun in Oyun Local government of the state was nominated as the deputy chief whip.

Abdulrazak Atunwa and his deputy were commissioners in the former cabinet. The motion for the nomination of Atunwa was moved by Kamal Fagbemi from Oke-Ogun constituency and seconded by Illiasu Ibrahim of Malete/Ipaiye/Oloru constituency while that for Yisa as the deputy Speaker was moved by Nimota Ibrahim from Ilorin east constituency and seconded by Adulkareem Abdulganiyu from Share/Oke-Ode constituency.
