Honesty, tolerance and love; Panacea to security challenges - Kwara speaker
As Muslims commence a month-long Ramadan fasting, they have been urged to use the holy month for sober reflection on issues impeding peaceful coexistence and renew their commitments towards the promotion of honesty, tolerance and love to make the nation overcome its current security challenges.
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Barrister Razak Atunwa gave the advice in Ilorin in his Ramadan message to Muslim faithful.
Barrister Atunwa in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media Alhaji Abdul Rahman Sanni expressed confidence that the nation would overcome her travails when both muslims and non-muslims imbibe the virtues of self discipline, piety, equity, tolerance, love and empathy for the down trodden as the month of Ramadan symbolizes.
The Speaker enjoined preachers during the Holy Month to continue to preach genuine love of one another and peaceful coexistence to further enhance the stability of the Nation and expressed the conviction that Nigeria would overcome her challenges through prayer and manifestation of high sense of patriotism by adherence of both religions.
Barrister Atunwa equally admonished Nigerians to shun acts of hooliganism, thuggery, greed, inordinate ambition and other acts capable of derailing the Nation`s democratic practice.
He urged Muslims to use the Holy Month for supplication for peace and stability of the nation.
