Unilorin VC vows to uphold due process

Date: 2013-06-30

The University of Ilorin has assured that it will continue to follow due process in all its activities in the scheme of things.

It also said that it will continue to deal with everybody on a plain level ground.

The Vice-Chancellors of the university, Professor AbdulGaniy Ambali, gave the assurance on  Wednesday during an interactive session with journalists on the outcome of a court judgment confirming his appointment as the vice-chancellor.

According to the vice-chancellor who described the university as a law abiding institution, the university is always guided by due process and directives given by the federal government and it will continue to act based on the directives.

He assured that fairness and a plain level ground will always be guaranteed in the institution, just as he promised to carry out his duty whole heartedly.

It could be recalled that shortly after his appointment as the VC, of the institution, one of the contestants of the position, Professor Jimoh Ijaodola, went to court, challenging the appointment and praying that it should be declared null and void.

But in its judgment, a Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin led by Justice Olayinka Faji, upheld the election, saying that the composition and process of the election and the appointment of the VC was constitutional.
