State of Georgia honours Senator Bukola Saraki

Tuesday 26 of June 2013, in Atlanta Georgia, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki received a double honor. First he was awarded the Africa's Emerging Political Icon of the year at the African Exchange and Investment Forum. Also at the same event, honorary citizen of the State of Georgia was conferred on him for the extraordinary work he has done in promoting education, agriculture and a sustainable environment.

Senator Steen Miles of the State Senate of State of Georgia who presented the award encouraged Senator Bukola Saraki not to relent on his effort to continue to work with people within and outside of Nigeria to improve quality of life in Nigeria.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed who was a special guest of honor at the event congratulated the distinguish Senator and also thanked the organizers for putting together an event to appreciate his predecessor. He assured them that his administration was building of the success of Senator Saraki's tenure as Governor and invited potential investors to come to Kwara to share in the prosperity of the state.

Senator Saraki speaking after the event expressed his gratitude to the Organizers of the event, African Leadership Magazine, the Governor of State of Georgia Nathan Deal and the Mayor of the City of Atlanta Kasim Reed for the honor bestowed on him and also the recognition by Kwarans Living in America based on merits of his leadership pattern and his advocacy for the interest of the masses, he assured this will be a motivation and challenge for him to maintain high level leadership to strive to influence more legislations for development in Kwara and Nigeria at large that will foster a more robust relationship between both nations while carrying the masses whom he represents and derive power from first.

Also present at the event were, Wife of the Senator Barrister Toyin Saraki, Senator Shaba Lafiaji, Honorable Zaraki, Honorable Moshood Mustapha, Alhaji Abubakar Kannike, Honorable Ali Ahmad, Alhaji Toyin Sanusi, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, Timi Alaibe, Senator Steen Miles, Sen. Gail Davenport, members of Kwara State Association Of Nigeria in North America amongst other dignitaries from Nigeria and America.
