Authorities at the University of Ilorin have announced its intention to introduce a multi-function ID card which will be used as cash guarantee card, identity card and access control card for students.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiy Ambali, who stated this in an interview with journalists in Ilorin said that holders of the card will be able to transact business without carrying cash.

According to him, “University of Ilorin is trying to embrace the internationalisation drive whereby once you graduate from the university, you will feel comfortable wherever you go.

“It is one of the best practices and it is obtainable internationally.

“We just came back from our tour of some foreign universities and we found out that even to make use of the convenience you have to use control card.”

The Vice Chancellor commended members of his team for their dedication and commitment over the last six months stating that they have demonstrated that they are always ready to serve the system so as to improve upon it.

Ambali said he had put all machinery in motion to ensure that the best practices put in place in the university are sustained.

He said when he came on board, only about 10 per cent of students had access to hostel accommodation.
