Oyeyemi hands over to new Unilorin Registrar

The new registrar of the University of Ilorin Mr. Emanuel Obafemi has been encouraged to be very prayerful, as this will give him breakthrough in all his assignments.The Immediate past registrar Mrs. Olufolake Oyeyemi stated this on (Friday 26th April 2013) at the official handing over ceremony held at the council chamber of the University.

Mrs. Oyeyemi thanked God for the journey of ten years which has finally come to an end. She said she was grateful for the opportunity to serve the University of Ilorin which is one of the best Universities in the country.She said being the first female registrar of the University there has been a lot of challenges but with the help of God and her colleagues at the directorate of Human resources, it has been smooth.

She appreciated all her colleagues who have worked with her stating that she has enjoyed her service with them. She said she wouldn't have succeeded without the support of members of her team.Mrs. Oyeyemi advised the new registrar not to pay attention to false information stating that there are many tasks ahead of him.

Earlier the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali described the event as historic, stating that the University would continue to be grateful.

Professor Ambali who was represented by the deputy Vice Chancellor Research Training and Innovation RTI said it is very interesting to witness a seasoned administrator hand over to another, while commending the out-going registrar for her dedication and commitment to the smooth running of the University.

He said Mrs. Oyeyemi has been able to train other members of staff of the department and as such has contributed to the growth of the University. The Vice Chancellor congratulated Mr. Obafemi for stepping into the shoes of the new registrar, urging him to give his best to the system. He called on the outgoing Registrar to continue to be by the University and support the the Institution.

During his acceptance speech, the new registrar, Mr. Emanuel Obafemi appreciated God for the uncommon favor done him. He thanked the Immediate past registrar for her roles in moving the registry forward while re assuring his total support and rededication to the service of the University.Mr. Obafemi appreciated the governing council of the University for granting the opportunity to serve.

Smartly dressed in pink lace the registrar who arrived at the council chamber about three minutes past ten was full of smiles and joy. Mrs. Oyeyemi who joined the University of Ilorin in October 1979 assumed the office as registrar in April 2003.

The event which is the first of its kind in the University where an outgoing registrar publicly handed over to a successor witnessed the signing of the hand over note by the two registrars.

Present at the occasion were the Bursar Mr. Ayo Siguwola, University Librarian Mr. Omoniyi, representative of the director of academic planning, senior members of the registry department and other members of staff.
