Kwara Loss Haunts Nembe City

Date: 2013-04-26

Nembe City technical adviser, Meremu Okara has said his wards' 0-2 defeat at Kwara United is one of their worst games in the eight-week old Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The NPFL newcomers lost the encounter courtesy of goals from the duo, Kabir Sanusi and Najeem Olukokun at the Kwara State Stadium on Wednesday.

Okara said his side gave a good account of themselves but were just unlucky to concede defeat to the Afonja Warriors.

“Well, football is like that at times, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, I think it was our bad day. The league is a marathon so I can’t just start to express disappointment.

“My wards played very well to deserve at least a point from the encounter maybe we’re damned too unlucky.

“We missed few chances at goal, we’re heading home to correct the lapses before our next game,” he said to supersport.com.

The Nembe-based side will play hosts to Gombe United on Sunday at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Matchday 9 and Okara said the encounter provides his side an opportunity to reclaim the points they lost at Kwara United.

“We’ll host Gombe United on Sunday, It’s our home game and a rare opportunity to grab the three points we lost at Kwara United.

“It’s a must win game, we won’t negotiate the three points at stake,” he said.

Nembe City have garnered 11 points from a possible 24 so far.
