Offa: NSCDC Nabs 2 Students, 2 Vigilante Members over Motorbike Theft
Two young men who claimed to be students of Kwara state College of Health Technology, Offa, have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara state over motorcycle theft.
They were arrested alongside two other suspects who were said to be members of a vigilante group.
Two motorbikes and a two barrel locally made pistol were recovered from the suspects.
Parading the suspects before journalists in IIorin, the civil Defence Commandant in the state, Mr. Gana Yerima said the suspects were arrested in Offa following a complaint from one of their victims..
The Commandant gave the name of the prime suspects as Ojo Tunde, a 24-year-old man from Ekiti state.
Others are Olaide Oyejide, 24-year-old from Offa in Kwara, Fajuyi Abayomi, 31 year-old from Osun state and Olabode Oluwaseun, 27-year-old from Oyo state.
Yerima said the suspects were snatching motorbikes at gunpoint in Offa and its environs.
He said the Command has concluded investigation into the cases, adding that they will soon appear in court.
The Commandant who expressed dismay that all the four suspects were young people appealed to parents and guardians to closely monitor the activities of their children.
Yerima solicited useful information from members of the public that would assist the Command at reducing crime in the state to the lowest ebbs.
In an interview with one of the suspects, Ojo Tunde who was said to be the prime suspect, he confessed that they committed the crime.
He said two other suspects who are members of a vigilate group supplied firearms they normally used for their operations.
