Gov AbdulRazaq Approves N30,000 Annual Bursary for Kwara Undergraduates
The Kwara State Government has officially announced an upward review of its annual financial support for indigenous students pursuing higher education across the country.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq approved an increase in the annual bursary for Kwara State indigenes in tertiary institutions, raising the stipend to N30,000 - a 50 percent increase from the previous allocation of N20,000.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Comrade Abdulwasiu Onidugbe, disclosed the development in Ilorin while conducting executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) around infrastructure projects executed by the state administration.
The revised scheme grants eligible beneficiaries an additional N10,000 annually, a move the state government described as part of its strategy to cushion economic pressures on students and enhance their academic welfare.
Comrade Onidugbe announced that a dedicated application portal will be opened shortly to enable qualified students of Kwara origin enrolled in accredited tertiary institutions across Nigeria to apply.
He stated that the AbdulRazaq administration remains committed to student welfare through regular bursary disbursements, entrepreneurship grants, and youth capacity-building programmes.
In his remarks, the newly sworn-in North-Central Coordinator of NANS, Comrade Abiola Azeez Babatunde, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for prioritizing youth development, making specific reference to the newly established Ilorin Innovation Hub.
Babatunde called for structured collaboration between NANS and the innovation hub to advance digital skills acquisition and prepare Kwara youths for opportunities in the technology sector.
