Kwara Attorney-General Ibrahim Sulyman, Three Other Kwarans Sworn In as SANs
Kwara State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman, has been formally sworn in as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, alongside three other legal practitioners from Kwara State.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, administered the oath to the 68 newly elevated lawyers on Monday, October 12, at the Supreme Court in Abuja during the ceremony marking the commencement of the 2026/2027 legal year.
The other Kwara State recipients are Mas'ud Mobolaji Alabelewe, Mohammed Abiodun Adelodun and Afees Hassan Adebayo. IlorinInfo had previously identified the three lawyers and the Attorney-General among the successful applicants approved for the prestigious rank in July.
For Sulyman, the conferment marks a significant milestone in his legal career and public service. He became Kwara State Attorney-General in May 2022 following a cabinet reshuffle by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, moving from the Ministry of Tertiary Education to the Ministry of Justice.
Sulyman is a 2008 law graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. His elevation now adds the SAN distinction to his professional credentials.
The Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee approved the 68 successful applicants during its 174th plenary session on July 23, 2026, under the chairmanship of Justice Kekere-Ekun.
The SAN rank recognises exceptional distinction in courtroom advocacy or significant contributions to legal scholarship.
This year's recipients comprise 67 advocates and one academic, Professor Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri. The Kwara Attorney-General appears on the published list as “Senior Sulyman Ibrahim”.
Following the announcement of the successful applicants in July, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, congratulated the recipients from Ilorin Emirate and urged them to uphold professional ethics, integrity and excellence while serving as role models for younger lawyers.
