Kwara Government Orders Traffic Diversion After Moro Bridge Collapse
The Federal Government and the Kwara State Government have ordered an immediate diversion of traffic following the collapse of the old Moro bridge after a heavy-duty truck reportedly caved in the structure.
Authorities said the incident occurred overnight, prompting urgent measures to prevent disruption along the busy route. Engineers from the state Ministry of Works have been deployed to commence palliative repairs on an alternative road to ease vehicular movement in the area.
The Kwara State Government confirmed that traffic managers have been mobilised to work with transport unions and commuters to ensure orderly movement along the temporary route. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution while navigating the corridor.
Officials also disclosed that construction work is ongoing on a new bridge a few metres from the collapsed structure, with federal authorities assuring continued progress on the project.
The government appealed to road users for patience and cooperation as efforts intensify to manage the situation and restore normal traffic flow.
