The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Kwara State Wing, has elected a new set of executives to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years.

The election was held during the 8th Quadrennial (19th) State Conference of Delegates at the Teachers House, Asa Dam Road today in Ilorin.

In the outcome of the exercise, Comrade Yusuf Wahab Agboola was returned as the State Chairman, whilst Comrade Issa Nurudeen was elected as Deputy Chairman.

Also elected are Comrade Adekeye Peter Olalekan as First Vice Chairman, Comrade Malik Wahab as Second Vice Chairman, Comrade Danmaigoro Idris Oseni as Third Vice Chairman, and Comrade Yusuf Olaitan Mudasheer as Fourth Vice Chairman.

Other members of the executive include Comrade Shaaba Idris Abdulkareem as Treasurer, Comrade Fadipe Lawrence David as First Internal Auditor, and Comrade Yusuf Safiya Idris as Second Internal Auditor.

Comrade Jubril Abubakar Nma emerged as the Publicity Secretary, whilst Comrade Ojo Funke Janet was elected Social Secretary, alongside Comrade Nuhu Aishat Funmilayo as Assistant Social Secretary.

The new leadership also has Comrade Issa Olayinka Shuaib as National Representative and Comrade Oladipo Ebenezer as Editor.

According to a statement by the Deputy Secretary-General of the union, Comrade Moni Mike Modesty Itua, the election was conducted democratically at the well-attended conference.

The union, through its State Wing Executive Council, called on education stakeholders and members of the public to support the new leadership in advancing the welfare of teachers and strengthening the education sector in Kwara State.
