KWEPA Inspects Landmark University, Promotes Sustainable Practices
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices across institutions in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Assistant Press Secretary of the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), Blessing Opadiran, and made available to journalists in Ilorin.
According to the statement, KWEPA conducted an inspection and familiarisation visit to Landmark University as part of efforts to reinforce environmental compliance and strengthen sustainability initiatives.
The delegation was led by the agency's General Manager, Jide Aina, who highlighted the importance of routine inspections and stakeholder engagement in safeguarding the environment.
"This inspection is part of our statutory responsibility to ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and standards across the state," Aina said. "Beyond assessing compliance, we are here to strengthen collaboration between KWEPA and Landmark University to promote sustainable environmental practices."
He encouraged the institution to sustain improvements in line with state environmental standards, noting that continuous progress and institutional cooperation are essential to achieving environmental sustainability goals.
The KWEPA team was received by the university's Vice-Chancellor, Kolawole Ajanaku, who commended the agency for its proactive oversight.
"We appreciate the visit and the guidance provided by KWEPA. The university remains committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable campus," Ajanaku said.
He added that the institution has established structured waste management systems, sanitation protocols, and sustainability-driven initiatives to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
The inspection covered key environmental facilities, waste disposal systems, and sanitation conditions across the campus, while also providing an opportunity for dialogue on regulatory compliance, best practices, and potential areas of partnership.
The statement noted that both KWEPA and Landmark University reaffirmed their shared commitment to environmental protection, sustainable development, and eco-friendly practices in Kwara State.
