Ambassador Imam Commends Governor AbdulRazaq's Security Strides Despite Woro Incident
A former Secretary-General of the Developing-8 (D-8) Organisation for Economic Cooperation, Ambassador Isiaka Imam, has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Kwara State following the recent terrorist attack on Woro village in Kaiama Local Government Area.
In a press statement issued in Ilorin on Thursday, Ambassador Imam described the assault on innocent residents as a "dastardly and evil act" that must be condemned by all well-meaning individuals.
He commiserated with the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the affected communities, praying for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and a quick recovery for the injured.
While acknowledging the security challenges confronting parts of the country, the former D-8 scribe commended the AbdulRazaq-led administration for what he described as significant strides in addressing insecurity in the state.
According to him, recent measures such as the recruitment of forest guards, increased logistical support for security agencies, and the strengthening of community policing structures clearly demonstrate the Governor's commitment to the protection of lives and property across Kwara State.
Ambassador Imam noted that it was particularly unfortunate that the incident occurred at a time when the state government was intensifying efforts to sustain peace in Kwara, a state widely known for its harmony and peaceful coexistence.
He called on peace-loving Kwarans to continue to support the Governor in his determination to restore and sustain lasting peace in all parts of the state.
He also urged security agencies to redouble their efforts to prevent a recurrence of such attacks, while advising residents especially those in Kwara North Senatorial District to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security authorities for swift intervention.
